Tips on growing a YouTube Channel

February 7, 2023
If you are starting a YouTube channel and looking to see real growth. I put together a few tips that I am using to grow mine. Should you start a YouTube channel in 2023? Absolutely.

Top Tips I'm using to grow my channel

I want to share with you all the top tips I’m using to grow my channel. I have finally decided to take YouTube seriously and try and grow this channel.

So let me kick this off by telling you a story. I started this channel back in 2017. At the time I just closed up my business to stay at home with our new baby. I wanted something to keep me making stuff and YouTube was a great option. I get to practice with my camera… Record etc… But it wasn’t my dream to make this a full-time thing. I made videos in between life haha. Going to school, having babies you know.

Anyways, recently I decided to get back into production and growing a business. I also decided that YouTube will be a big part of that so This leads me to my first tip… Set goals and Plan,

Tip 1 - Set goals for your YouTube Channel

This step is in my opinion the most important thing you can do when starting a channel or any business for that matter. The plan you set gives you a guide and a road map. As time goes on it's really easy to lose focus of what you're doing. Referring to your plan helps keep you on track and follow through. Setting goals gives you some kind of metric you can measure. Who cares if your goals at first are farfetched? As time goes on you can come back and adjust as you learn more. They are there to tell you if you heading in the right direction.

Tip 2 - Don’t be afraid to experiment

I know a lot of big channels talk about niching down. That does make sense in the fact you become an authority in your field, however, I’m still in the learning what I want to talk about phase so over the next while I want to expand what I talk about and see what I like. After a bunch of videos, I want to analyze and see what people like. That way I can decide to niche down or keep experimenting. Let the niche find me.

Tip 3 - YouTube Shorts

This one I’m still learning and trying to figure out how to work this in and I guess this goes with tip 2. However, I am posting to shorts and getting some really interesting results. I find a lot of my behind the scene videos do great where my polished videos don’t. I also see If one does really well I get 800 views a day. So my plan is to do 3 to 5 shorts every week and try and get into a groove with that. The great thing is Shorts can be shared on all the platforms so your chances of exposure increase. I want to eventually do a more in-depth video on this.

Tip 4 - Repurposing older content to get more YouTube Views

Even though I haven’t really been consistent up to this point, I have a lot of content I’ve made over the past few years. I don’t make videos like this and I feel my skills have really grown with the camera, but it doesn’t mean I can take advantage of repurposing older footage.  One way to do this is by using the remix feature. I can take older clips and turn them into shorts.  I am also going to update some titles and thumbnails to help make them stand out.  Because, well some of them are really bad haha.
